Attraction Marketing In MLM...Say What?

Posted by Roger Smith

What is Attraction Marketing?

Attraction Marketing seems to be ‘the next big thing’ in both online and offline marketing. The obvious question is ‘What is Attraction Marketing?’ however, two better questions would be ‘Why should I care?’ and the question every entrepreneur, vendor or organization should ask before they do anything ‘What’s in it for me?’

In order to understand Attraction Marketing, it would seem logical that one must first describe marketing. This could easily fill another article – there are literally hundreds of definitions in thousands of textbooks, articles and websites. A theme common in the majority of definitions is that Marketing relates to the many forms of communication that take place between a product or service vendor and the target audience. Quite separate from the activity of selling, which refers to the transaction where goods or services are exchanged for an agreed value. In the easiest of terms we can say that marketing is the process by which a customer can be persuaded to conduct a purchasing transaction.

If this will be our working definition, what has attraction got to do with persuasion I hear you say? Well in short not a lot and that is the key. It takes a lot of effort to persuade someone to do something or to buy something that they have not yet already decided to buy. Effort, in this instance, equates to time and money. If you do not have a large supply of cash, the task of persuading someone to buy your product is going to be impossible, especially when you consider you’re going to be competing with some very big budget advertisers. Can you really out market Coke or Pepsi? Do you want to compete head to head with Nike? I don't think so!

But let’s take a look at this approach from another angle. What if you didn’t set out to persuade anyone to buy something? What if you just let people search for you? Already this sounds cheaper and easier because your potential customers are now looking for you. And thanks to MySpace and other online methods, prospects/consumers now have an almost unlimited variety of choice. This choice includes the big name mega brands and all the other not-so-big or not-so-mega brands. The Internet has, to some extent, leveled the playing field. If a potential consumer has a need that is currently unsatisfied they can search for a product or company that they believe will meet their need.

And this brings us back to Attraction. It is a well known statistic that it costs five times as much to win a new customer as it does to keep an existing one. The same would be true in the broader world of Marketing. Convincing someone that they have a need is expensive. However, persuading someone who already has a need that your product or service or MLM company is better than your competitors is a much cheaper exercise. Why? Well the potential buyer has already qualified their own need; they have already convinced themselves that their need can be met. It is your job to attract them to your particular corner of the market, whether that is your Internet site, your company’s office, in fact wherever you do what you do!

Attraction Marketing is the practice of allowing pre-qualified buyers or prospects to find what it is that you are offering. If, at the same time, you can show them that it meets their need and in a better way than your competitors can, you probably don’t even have to worry about the sales transaction or the signing up process for your particular company. After all they came looking for you, it’s not like you had to sell them anything…Right?

Don't Fail Like Most In Network Marketing!!

Posted by Roger Smith

Network marketing is Simple, but doing the old way (i.e., cold calling people) is NOT easy.

Don't fool yourself!

Let me explain my opion of why network marketing is notorious for having a 95% or higher failure rate...

Ready?

Most network marketers fail because the marketing methods that they are taught don't work 95% or more of the time.

So we're led to ask the next logical question, what are most new network marketing associates taught.

I can only speak from my experience, but what I was taught was to buy and cold call leads.

I'm not saying that this does not work, but I will say is that after six months of cold calling leads for 3 hours a day with very little success this tactic doesn't work for me.

Unless you're natural born confident sales leader going into your network marketing career you'll probably have these same results.

Don't get me wrong some people are very good at cold calling leads, but most people aren't.

What happens to most people after they've spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on leads with very little success after months of effort?

They run out of money. They get burned out and then . . .

They give quit.

Another important factor contributing to why most network marketers fail is the type of leads they buy.

Why does the type of leads network marketers use make a difference?

Well . . .

Business opportunity leads, the leads most new network marketers are told to use, are generic. These leads answer an ad that just asks them if they want to be financially free or make money from home or get a free prize or something like that.

Well . . . of course they do!

But that doesn't mean they want anything to do with YOUR MLM program.

When a new network marketer calls these generic business opportunity leads the leads don't know anything about the network marketer's business and for the most part you as a person so they honestly don't care.

With these leads the brand new network marketer will no doubt hear a lot of "NO’s".

Hearing NO all the time leads to quite a bit of self doubt, both about the network marketer's own ability and the validity of their association with their network marketing company.

Negative feelings begin to harbor and as I said eventually the network marketer gives up, usually within 3-6 months.

The fledgling network marketer's perception of their business goes from one of opportunity to one of complete doubt and negativity.

Reality follows perception, so because the fledgling network marketer believes both themselves and their business as having little hope this becomes TRUE.

That's basically why 95% of network marketers fail if you asked me.

Why Self Branding Is The Best Way To Build Your MLM Business

Posted by Roger Smith

In Network Marketing we are told to make a list of our family, friends, workmates and everybody else we know. Why? Because it is easier to do business with people that know, like and trust us. This principle is generally true. People go to a mechanic who did a good job before or re-visit restaurants where they had good service.

Unfortunately most people see us only in one particular role; as a relative, friend, workmate, etc. But they do not know, like and trust us as an entrepreneur; especially when we are first starting out and haven’t made much money yet. In fact they are often very cynical.

On the Internet however, prospective prospects/distributors do not see you as a relative, friend or workmate. They don’t bring up past failures or previous MLM ventures. They don’t question what do you know as you’re just a employee, housewife, too young, too broke, whatever. All they know is that you are involved with a service/product that you are promoting and if you promote it well they will think you are an expert.

Many Network Marketing companies provide replicated websites, which are about the company, product or the opportunity. There is nothing to make the prospect know, like or trust YOU. To overcome this you need to BRAND YOURSELF.

Branding is how the heavy hitters in Network Marketing make millions while teaching you how to approach a cynical warm list! Why do you think the heavy hitters sell CD’s, DVD’s and books rather than give their secrets to their own organization? Apart from making money on these products, it is also a great way to attract prospects wanting to work with them, without them having to do what they are teaching you to do. They don’t need to approach their warm list any more. They don’t need to advertise their opportunity. They just promote themselves through their products and have people come to them wanting to work with them. That really is the one big secret in Network Marketing that those at the top do not teach to those that have just started.

It is very easy to brand yourself than you may think. Even if you have not yet had any success, you can still share information you may have; either from your own personal experience or from others. It doesn’t take long to learn information worth sharing even if you have only just started out.

Since I have started branding myself, I have had people tell me that I am an inspiration to them and that they will use my guidelines to set up their MLM organizations, and new associates. I have been offered money for information that I was giving away free. Nobody on my warm list has ever treated me this way. Wouldn’t you like to be treated like that rather than struggle to convince all the cynics in your life?

Not only will it work for you, but it will work for every member of your team. I know at first it seems presumptuous, especially if you have just started. However, remember, about 95% of Network Marketers fail. Do you want to risk building your financial future with warm list and advertising techniques that fail 95% of the time, or do you want to use the techniques used by the heavy hitters who are right at the very top?
